About This Application
The New Jersey Governor’s “We Value Our Veterans” Employer Award recognizes businesses and corporations that actively support and honor veterans within their organization and community. This application allows employers to document the veteran‑supportive initiatives they have completed, such as recognition events, designated veteran parking, employee acknowledgments, community engagement efforts, and other qualifying activities.

Who Should Complete This Form
This form is intended for New Jersey businesses, corporations, and employers who wish to be considered for the Governor’s “We Value Our Veterans” Employer Award and demonstrate their commitment to supporting veterans.

Time Required
The application should take approximately 10–20 minutes to complete.

What to Expect After Submitting
Once you submit the form online, you will be contacted by the New Jersey Department of Veterans Affairs within 5 business days with a decision regarding your application.

You must have at least 55 initiative points before you can proceed. If you cannot accumulate at least 55 initiative points, then you do not qualify for this award.

Please explain how you implemented your veteran initiatives:

Parking spots designated for Purple Heart Recipients and/or Veterans (5 points)

Host a recognition ceremony on Veterans Day or other military related dates thanking the military and/or Veterans for their service (15 points)

Create a Military Family Day at place of Employment i.e. BBQ, Picnic, Luncheon, etc.… (20 points)

Recognize the Military employees as well as the Veterans on company website and other social media platforms and company newsletters (5 points)

Include the Department of Veterans Affairs link on the company website (5 points)

Employee discount or tickets to an event or some form of a token of appreciation (10 points)

(For retail outlets): Offer a special discount for all military and Veterans (10 points)

(For convenience stores): Offer free coffee on Veterans Day (10 points)

Care packages sent to families left behind during deployment (10 points)

Bring your military family to work day (10 points)

Make a company “military donation day” to your favorite military non-profit (15 points)

Breakfast with the Boss for all employees who are serving or who have served (10 points)

Partnering with ESGR with a Statement of Support signing (10 points)

Incorporate a Wall of Heroes in the company lobby or on prominent display in the building(10 points)

Insert the word Veteran on Veteran employee signature block/cards (5 points)
